Historical sights of Oman

Sunhuram Archeological site

As we entered the archeological site, the following was written on a board:

“The ancient site of Sumhuram (3rd Century BC to 5th century AD) built in the area of Khor Rohi is the most important pre-Islamic settlement in the Dhofar region and in the center of frankincense production areas. South Arabian inscriptions were carved along the monumental gate to the city. Outside the city wall, a small temple and structures contemporary to the first phase of the city were excavated (3rd Century BC to 1 Century AD).

Nizwa Fort

The most visited national monument in Oman, it is a beautiful historic castle built in 1650’s by Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya’rubi. Nizwa Fort holds prominence in Oman’s history for it’s ability to defend against attacking forces.
